 ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY YQL believes that wise environmental stewardship is based on careful work planning, diligent implementation, thoughtful assessment of performance and a desire to improve over time. Successful implementation of our projects results in some disturbance to our natural environment. However, YQL believes that we can contribute to the sustainable development of our host companies.  Procedure  Any employee or manager who identifies a training need is encouraged to visit the Company’s learning platform where content is available for consumption 24/7 or simply contact the Learning and Training team. Employees and managers are also welcome to browse for self-paced content on our YQL Truck and Dozer Institute and are also invited to use the YQL to register to instructor-led courses that are being refreshed and offered on a quarterly basis in the Institute. The Learning & Training team is responsible for understanding the need, designing the suitable training solution and obtaining all required approvals for the training and development programs.

 SOP 45: Shuttle Bus Operating ProceduresOverview | Implementation 

Standard Operating Procedure (SOP 45) for shuttle bus operations in an open-pit environment involves ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance with regulations. The following elements must be considered by the management and the driver for implementations: Pre-operational check | Driver Training | Passenger Safety | Operational Guideline & planning | Maintenance Record -Keeping | Emergency Procedures Safety:The driver must be compliant to all requirements before driving the vehicle not limited to YQL SOP but also including the following listed below:  

  • Valid driving license with for correct classification
  • Valid driving permit
  • Valid Vehicle permit
  • The driver is compliant to all related health examination  requirements

 To ensure safety on YQL Passenger Bus, these additional requirements and or measures must be applied to reinforced SOP 45: Driver Responsibilities- Seat Belt Usage: Drivers must wear seat belts if fitted, and ensure passengers do the same.  SOP 46: Standard Big Tires Stacking Procedures Overview | Implementation  This Standard Operating Procedure (SOP 46) for Big Tires must comply with the local rules in the area of operation regarding Safety and Environmental Policies ensuring  safety, efficiency, and compliance with regulations. The following elements must be considered:     

ALERT -TIRES ARE FLAMMABLE- FIRE HAZARD 

  • Identify the suitable place as Stacking areas
  • Consider easy access for fire Protection equipment or fire truck in case of fire
  • All proper signage must be installed
  • Use only qualified operators and correct equipment for stacking the tires.
  • Follow manufacturer recommendations or Stacking guidelines
  • Spotter must be employed while executing this process. Hazardous operation high risk to falling object from height incident
  • Safety talk must be held before attempting to do this operation.

 GUIDELINES – KEY PROCEDURE TO FOLLOW Stacking big tires safely is crucial to prevent accidents and ensure workplace safety. Here are some key procedures to follow: Use Proper Equipment: Always use forklifts, tire handlers, or other mechanical aids to lift and stack large tires safely. 

  • Stable Stacking: Stack tires in a pyramid or vertical interlocking pattern to prevent them from toppling over.

 Height Limitations: Avoid stacking tires too high—follow 3 tire level manufacturer policy or workplace guidelines on maximum stacking height

 Secure the Stack: Use straps or barriers to keep tires in place and prevent shifting. Clear Pathways: Ensure the stacking area is free from obstacles and has enough space for safe movement. 

  • Regular Inspections: Check stacks periodically for stability and signs of

 wear or damage. Renew all signage if required. Proper Storage Conditions: Keep tires in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures to maintain their integrity. This only applies to new and reusable tires. 

  • Always record Inspection conducted and abnormalities corrected if there are. 
  • Revise this SOP if required.

SOP 47: HAND TOOL POLICY – (CLASSIFIED AS STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE THAT COVERS ALL AREAS OF OPERATIONS)OVERVIEW: This policy aims to ensure the safe and effective use of hand tools in the workplace, promoting a culture of responsibility and accountability among employees. 

Scope: This policy applies to all YQL employees who use hand tools in the course of their work. Any hand tools given to them are classified under personal to the holder and therefore Zero Tolerance Policy to Unlawful Removal of Company Properties applies in the event of lost and abused.

 Responsibilities - Employees: Use hand tools safely and responsibly, report any damage or defects, and follow proper storage and maintenance procedures. Any cost of the missing tools will be charge to the employee thru salary deduction. - Supervisors: Ensure employees are properly trained on hand tool usage, conduct regular inspections, and address any safety concerns and replace missing tool/s - Management: Provide necessary resources and support for hand tool procurement, maintenance, and training. 

Guidelines Tool Selection: Choose the right tool for the job, considering factors like quality, ergonomics, and specificity. - Tool Inspection: Regularly inspect tools for damage or wear and tear and remove defective tools from service. - Tool Storage: Store tools in a designated area, keeping them organized and secure. - Tool Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance, such as cleaning and lubricating, to extend tool lifespan. - Training: Provide employees with proper training on hand tool usage, safety, and maintenance.  

Safety Procedures - Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Wear PPE, such as gloves and safety glasses, when using hand tools. - Hazard Reporting: Report any hazards or safety concerns related to hand tool usage to supervisors or management. - Accident Reporting: Report any accidents or injuries related to hand tool usage and conduct thorough investigations.
